In 2023, the venue for The Chiang Mai Sky Lanterns Festival

will be changed from The Northern Study Center in the Mae Rim area

to The Royal Chiang Mai Golf Course in the San Sai area.

And the maximum number of seats available will be approximately 3,500.

Yi Peng / Yee Peng  refers to the full moon day in the second month according to the Lanna lunar calendar (the twelfth month of the Thai lunar calendar). The festival is meant as a time to make merit literally: ‘floating lanterns’, are launched into the air. Khomloy are made from a thin fabric, such as rice paper, stretched over a bamboo or wire frame, to which a candle or fuel cell is attached. When the fuel cell is lit, the resulting hot air is trapped inside the lantern and creates enough lift for the Khomloy to float into the sky.

 

During festival, some people also decorate their houses, gardens, and temples with Khom Fai intricately shaped paper lanterns which take on different forms. Khom Thue are lanterns which are carried around hanging from a stick, Khom Khwaen are the hanging lanterns, which are placed at temples and which revolve due to the heat of the candle inside.

The most elaborate Yi Peng celebrations can be seen in Chiang Mai, the ancient capital of the former Lanna kingdom, where now both Loi Krathong and Yi Peng are celebrated at the same time resulting in lights floating on the waters, lights hanging from trees/buildings or standing on walls, and lights floating in the sky. The tradition of Yi Peng was also adopted by certain parts of Laos during the 16th century.

Loy Kratong 

The first person who initiated Loy Krathong at Chiang Mai is the royal princess Dara rassame. After Loy Krathong had become a tradition that all regions of Thai people practice some beliefs also passed along as well, such as cutting the hair and nails into the pan, To Misfortune Go with the tides some people prefer to put coins or money into the Krathong. According to belief of Lanna people, the forest gate is sacrifices to welcome the Buddha come out from the forest. And it said that if most of the Lanna people listen to the defecation, they will be auspicious to themselves and the country.

Loy Krathong Lanna Lantern Night Festival that is the point of the candle light which is a pottery like a small cup for wax or oil and the cotton line for the light. The light is the light, The Buddha is worshiped. It is believed that this is a place to repay merit to the benefactors. 1. When Will I Get My ticket for Yi Peng?

E-Tickets (CONFIRMED BOOKING & VOUCHER) will be sent to you via email within 3-5 business days after the payment has been made.

2. How Will I Get My ticket for Yi Peng?

After payment, we will send you the E-Ticket (CONFIRMED BOOKING & VOUCHER) by message or email. You will need to present your e-ticket (mobile version or printed paper) and your passport (or copy of your passport) both at meeting point and event entrance.

3.Is There Any Additional Fees?

The price shown is the final price including taxes and transfer fees.There are no additional fees.No Tax.

4. Why Ask Name And Passport Number?

We need your information such as full name with title, passport number, date of birth, and nationality because tour companies in Thailand are required by law to have insurance coverage for clients in case of accidents or unforeseen events. If the name does not match, you may not be able to attend the event.

6. Can I Cancel My Purchase?

7. Can I Change The Name On Tickets?

8. What If I Can’t Go To The Meeting Point On Time?

All guests should go to meeting point for transportation from 03.00 pm – 04.30 pm

If not, you will need to to go to venue on your own.

10. Is There Private Transportation From Hotel?

We not provide private transfers, nor pick up and drop off at your hotel.

11. Can I Hire Professional Photographer?

Yes, you can take pictures, and come with your private photographer (ticket to be reserved), but we do NOT ALLOW the use of selfie stick, ladder, tripod, drones…

12. Can Children Come?

Yes, but we do not recommend bringing small children/infant. If you do, the child will be under parents’ supervision.

13. Is There A Seat Reserved For Children Coming On A Free Ticket?

Most of organizer provide free ticket for children. The child will need to sit on parent’s lap during the ceremony (20-30 min).

14. What Should I Wear?

Casual is great, keep in mind that you should be respectful and high heels are not comfortable.

15. Is Thai Food Spicy?

All of organizer provide buffet dinner with many options.

16. Will There Be Vegetarian Options?

Yes, all of organizer provide buffet dinner with many options. But if you have allergies of gluten or some specific dietary needs, we recommend you to bring your own food.
